How?
Projects differ in size and scope, so we don't have a "one size fits all" solution.
We have a process we use for bigger projects, unless the client has a preferred one of their own - click here to see the printable PDF diagram of it (you'll need Adobe Reader).
However, we have a few things that we always tend to mention:
- Good electronic content is about simplicity.
Focus, ruthlessly, on exactly what you are trying to do for your audience. Don't be seduced by all of the possibilities which technology offers you - only do what's useful. We could have made this website very flashy (and, for the techies, Flashy). But, hopefully, it does exactly what it's designed to do, quickly. If you want to hear more from us, you will contact us.
- We build teams for projects, not the other way round.
Often we use the same people because we have learnt to trust them, but not always. We feel that developing a big new media project is a little like making a feature film - you need to assemble the right team for that particular job.
- Be light on your feet.
Treat electronic content as a short-term investment which will need to justify itself in three years maximum (whatever "justify itself" means - this might not be just a matter of money). Technology will have moved on another stage in three years' time.
Technically speaking, we like to use Flash, AIR, HTML, and C#. We can also write Perl and PHP if needed. We also sometimes use two tools: Sitecore, for content management (we're a certified partner), and our own tool called SubscriptionAccess for managing online subscription services. We film in digital HD unless asked otherwise.
